Frequently Asked Questions

Why use a mold dog?
Mold can be extremely hidden and at times there may be no visible evidence that
an area needs to be tested. That is where a mold dog shines! Mold dogs are
specially trained to detect hidden mold using their incredible natural ability, their
powerful sense of smell. Dogs noses are 100,000 times more powerful than

humans giving them the ability to sniff out mold that could not be detected
otherwise.

Why choose us?
We are passionate about helping other families with toxic mold exposure. After
our own devastating mold exposure, we knew that we had to do anything we
could to help others going through their own mold journey. That inspired us to start an independent,

certified, and fully insured mold inspection company. It has been a huge blessing being able to

help others during such dark and challenging times. We quickly realized that even with the
very best, most detailed inspections, there can be gaps. No inspection method is
100% perfect. There are simply times when a conventional mold inspection isn’t
enough. Mold can be extremely hidden and there may be no visible evidence that

Are mold dogs accurate?
Yes. Mold dogs are extremely accurate. Hope has been highly trained on scent
detection and can find even trace amounts of mold.

Can Hope identify mold in HVAC system or ceilings?
Yes. Mold spores, fragments, and mycotoxins pulled to the ground by gravity will
allow Hope to detect the presence of mold and alert.

Where are we located and do we travel?
We are located in Northwest Arkansas. That is our main service area, however, we
will travel in the US if possible. Please contact us for more details of travel
requests.

Is mold detection dangerous for Hope?
No. Dogs are amazing creatures with unique olfactory capabilities. Dogs have the
ability to sniff 5 to 6 times per second. This scent detection is a different function
than their breathing. Dogs have small slits on each nose that allows scents to
quickly come in and pass back out without being inhaled. In addition, Hope is in
and out of the homes very quickly and lives in a safe environment. It is very

different than animals who live in unhealthy, moldy environments. As an extra
precaution, we monitor her health very closely and maintain adequate detox
pathways. In our trainer’s 30+ year mold dog detection career he has never had a
dog get sick from their work as a mold detection dog. Thankfully, because of
amazing mold detection dogs like Hope, the lives of many people and animals are
saved each year.

How was Hope trained?
Hope was trained by Certified Master Trainer Bill Whitstine at his Florida Canine
Academy. Hope has received over 1,000 hours of training on a multitude of mold
species. In addition, Hope’s entire family spent 4 full days learning canine
handling, search patterns, identification of alerts, how to understand scent
discrimination, and how to continue her training at home.

Is Hope continuously trained and recertified?
Yes. We train with Hope daily, and she completes quarterly recertification with
CMT, Bill Whitstine.

Does Hope the Mold Dog offer remediation services or mold testing/sampling
services?
No. We do not offer remediation services; however, we do try to provide referral
recommendations if possible.
We do have a sister company that offers mold inspections and sampling. Home
